There are two kick-ass virus' going
around that you have to be aware of.
They are very young and spreading rapidly,
rated the "highest threat" on F-Secure.

They're called:

"MyDoom" and "Bagle"

Read up on them:

http://www.f-secure.com/virus-info/virus-news/

If you don't have up to date virus
protection, DO NOT OPEN E-MAILS WITH
THE SUBJECT OR BODY CONTAINING:

HI

HELLO

TEST

They're everywhere. Be safe. MyDoom has
caused servers to stall and crash.

Personally, I don't think anything is completely hacker-proof, just as money isn't completely counterfeit-proof.

I've lost count on how many times i've rebuilt my computer(s). Back in my amateur days when didn't know crap, if a problem came up which was relativly hard to fix i'd just format. Pretty dumb I know. I got to many important things on my comp. to go through that. But if you don't have to many things to worry abuot format and keeping back up's is a good solution for a cluttered machine. Just make sure if you backup those files from your machine now they don't contain viruses that will transfer when u place it in your new clean formatted machine.

Now I use Ghost over my network to reimage my PC's. At my old job I had to setup 10 separate Ghost images and deploy them over the wire. Could do a 3 Gb image on 10 computers at the same time in about 20 minutes. It may sound good, but I had to do the individual config on each machine and it was a pain. I did though try a deployment solution called Alteris. This program could image a hard drive, install individual settings, and install individual software all from a console screen. Unfortualty, it costs an arm and leg to get so it was cheaper just to use Ghost.

BTW Ask all the questions you want, us computer geeks will be happy to answer them.

Virus are being generated every week. You
really have a have a service, with Norton
or McAaffee that keeps you current, I'm
afraid. Sorry.

It's nothing, Fuse. My brother works
for Qualcomm and I am in the financial
business. We get that stuff first.

That photo crushes you guys because
of its width, unfortunately. I think
the other one looks better.

By the way, thanks for your kind e-mail.

Exclamation

Got up today to 3 of these e's...apparently they are attached to friends & various companies' emails, because the addies are from a friend @ their workplace, & places like your local TV & PC cable co, & "Fingerhut"!
Subj line contains either "Hi, Hello, or Test" ON ALL 3.
[Deleted all 3.] It was all over the news yesterday.

WATCH OUT. DO NOT OPEN ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY SUSPICIOUS, UNKNOWN, OR QUESTIONABLE.
THANX AGAIN PETER FOR THE H.U.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">neber_dude, go to www.trend.com and try their free online scan.
Remember the golden ruled, NEVER open an attachment if you don't know who the email is from. Be careful of ALL .exe files as they are self executable and if they contain a virus can totally trash your pc. Just to add, I ALWAYS delete emails if I don't recognise the sender or if I'm not expecting one fron someone I've ner heard of. Better safe than sorry and I have learnt from numerous mistakes in the past!
Good luck.
